About UConn ALD

Founded in 1964, UConn ALD is comprised of over 2,500 current members enrolled at UConn. Every January, approximately 1,400 new first year students are invited to join our chapter. We host a wide range of events on campus with the goal of allowing members to meet like-minded individuals in order to foster a community of support and academic excellence.

What We Offer:

  • Academic & Professional Development - workshops, guest lecturers, and academic presentations all designed to give members the opportunity to further succeed in their studies and future careers
  • Social Events - game nights, arts & crafts, and general member meetings organized to allow members to build connections with fellow peers
  • Scholarships - we offer four local scholarships to active members: the Katie Jo Michel Roaming Husky Award ($1000), the Dr. Seuss Book Award ($250), the Paper ‘n Paws Award ($500), and the Continuing Education Award ($500)
  • Community Engagement - food drives, soup kitchen volunteering, and many other service opportunities to give back to our campus and local area

We encourage all eligible students to take advantage of this opportunity, whether you are interested in leadership roles, earning service hours, attending social events, or a mix of everything. Becoming a member will enhance your college experience and help you navigate UConn as a first-year student.
